TGIF! The weekend is upon us and I can’t wait to get out of the house and spend some time exploring the city these next couple of days. I have a long-time friend coming to visit and I’m excited to show her around our new neighborhood. Because I know we will spend a majority of our day out and about I will be packing my purse with the essentials I need to get me through the day. Keep reading to see what I keep in my bag.
Let’s start off with the bag itself, this is a special edition of the Large Longchamp Le Pliage Tote with short handles. I fell in love with the look of this bag and searched high and low for one until I finally found it at an outlet (Score!). Like the classic version it is super lightweight and has plenty of room.
I like to keep a small planner or notebook along with a few pens with me at all times for writing down important dates, names of restaurants/shops/music etc. I want to look up later. I don’t know how many times I say “oh, I will remember that” and by the time I get home I’ve long forgotten the name of something. I really enjoy this small “to-do” planner from Michaels to jot down daily tasks-plus there is something so satisfactory about getting to check something off a list.
I keep several mini beauty products with me in order to touch-up throughout the day. There are usually several lip products constantly in rotation in all of my bags. Currently I am using the L’Occitane Shea Vanilla Bouquet Lip Balm for moisturizing, NARS Satin Lip Pencil in Rikugien for color, and a mini gloss (sorry, the name has rubbed off) for when I want a bit of sheen. While I am touching up I like to run a brush through my hair to keep everything in place-does anyone else with bangs always find them separating or getting into their eyes constantly? I use the travel-sized version of my favorite hair brush, which i have raved about in several posts. If I need to (which is most of the time in the summer) I dab a bit of powder along my t-zone using the Bare Minerals READY foundation. I have a sample size that I picked up during the holiday season, perfect for on the go-it even came with a small brush! Hand sanitizer is a must, especially in the city where public restrooms aren’t always available or questionable (Eww!). I stock up on the Bath and Body Works PocketBac versions when they are on sale for a dollar.
Of course, one of the most important items in my purse is my wallet. I have been using this Kate Spade one for the last three or four years. It has held up so well and has room everything I need to store and more. My sunglasses also rank up there in terms of importance/practicality. I have sensitive eyes and pretty much like to wear sunglasses anytime I’m outside. Ray Ban Aviators are so classic and stylish you can’t go wrong. Lastly, I like to have my iPad mini with me, especially if I am traveling. It’s great for watching movies, reading and just general internet browsing without draining your phone battery.
(Not pictured: crumpled up receipts, gum wrappers and loose change that always seem to find there way to the bottom of every purse I own.)
What do you keep in your bag? Let me know in the comments below. I hope everyone has a nice and relaxing weekend ahead of them. Thanks for reading!
